Parkinson’s disease

Parkinson’s disease is a multiple symptom/sign disease of both motor and non-motor abnormalities that occurs when the brain becomes dopamine deficient.

Cardinal motor symptoms and signs of the disease are tremor at rest, slowness of movements, stiffness also known as dystonia, walking changes and facial expression changes.

Non-motor symptoms and signs of the disease are decreased smell, constipation, acting out in your dreams, drooling and sleep dysfunction among other possible symptoms attributed to Parkinson’s disease.

The importance of multi-disciplinary approach to care is imperative to live well with Parkinson’s disease and atypical Parkinsonism.
